Don’t leave the scene

In a car accident, it is important not to leave the scene of the accident until assembly. If you leave the scene of the accident and someone has been injured or killed, there is the possibility that you will face severe criminal penalties for being a hit-and-run driver.

Check all drivers and passengers

Before determining property damage, make sure everyone involved in the accident is okay. If anyone involved in the accident was injured, it is important to seek medical attention. If an injured person suffers from neck or back pain, do not move them unless danger requires moving the person; otherwise, qualified medical help will move patients.

Call the police immediately

It is critical to call the police if there has been physical injury, death, or property damage. It is important to obtain the name and license plate numbers of the officers who arrived at the scene of the car accident.

Exchange information

Subsequently, following the steps above, you need to exchange information with the other car and the drivers. Information to be exchanged includes:

  • People’s names

  • Telephone numbers

  • Home address

  • Driver’s license number

  • License number

  • Insurance information

If any passengers were involved in the accident, you should also obtain their information.

Talk to witnesses

Find out what the witnesses saw. If possible, get their names, phone numbers, and place of residence.

Notify your insurance company

Inform your insurance company immediately that you have been involved in a car accident. Comply with the insurance company and let them know the truth about what exactly happened and the extent of the injuries you face. Describe the facts of the accident openly. If you lie to your insurance company and they find out that you were cheating on them, there can be serious consequences, such as losing the coverage you would have had for the accident. Receive and inspect any police reports that have been filed for the purpose of finding out which individual violated which traffic laws and who was at fault.

Take photos

As soon as possible after the accident, take pictures of any damage that has been done to your vehicle. These photographs will help the insurance adjuster determine how much to reimburse for the damage that has been done.
