Roger Federer is embedded in the culture of our society as the best player of our generation. He has surpassed Pete Sampras as the holder of the most Grand Slam tennis tournaments with 14. However, this is not the only reason I admire him. Let me tell you my reasons.

Everyone knows that Roger is funny and a winner, but it really shows someone’s character when things don’t go well. This is what I like about Roger. When he loses, he is never a spoilsport and always offers praise to the opponent winning him. He doesn’t offer excuses, but he tells it like it is. Against Raphael Nadal, who is Roger’s tennis rival for the Grand Slams, it would be easy for them to resort to petty differences and insults.

However, they have a great relationship because it is based on respect and trust. They both know they are going to be graceful to win and defeat each other. However, they both desperately want to win every time they play each other. When Roger lost the Australian Grand Slam, he started crying. However, this actually made people like him even more because they realized how much grand slams meant to him.

The money was not a gamble, rather Roger wanted to be the best and challenge himself. Roger is a true competitor, and I think we will be lucky if we see a complete person like him on and off the pitch in our generation.
