Removing tint from windows has never been easier. All you need to do is have a newspaper, a cleaning sponge, and some soap and water. Here are some simple steps on how to remove tint from windows using just newspaper and soap. Start by making a soap and water mixture that you will use. Next, use your home cleaning sponge to apply it on your window. Make sure the entire surface area of the window is covered with soap and water.

Once all areas of the window have been soaked with soap and water, you can now apply the newspaper to your window. Make sure it fits your window snugly and that all tinted areas of the window are directly touching the newspaper you placed. It doesn’t matter if the newspaper is old or new, as long as it is a newspaper that you can use.

Leave the newspaper in place for about an hour. If you see newspaper sliding out the window, reapply the soap and water mixture to the newspaper to make it stick even more to the stained window. You can do this every 10 to 15 minutes to make sure the newspaper is in contact with the tint films.

After about an hour, try scraping off the newspaper along with the window tint film. If the stain does not wash off with the newspaper, carefully reapply it with the soap and water mixture and leave for an additional hour.

Make sure the newspaper is damp every 10-15 minutes. Try removing the newspaper again after the allotted time. You should be able to remove it along with the dye this time.

If you can’t peel the stain off with your hands, you can use a utility knife or squeegee to remove the newspaper and stain. It would be better to use a squeegee than a razor as it can damage your window. Follow all the steps above until you are done with all the windows.

You would be better off using this dye removal method on a cloudy day as the newspaper will tend to stay wet for a longer period of time, which is preferable for loosening the adhesive used when applying the dye. If you don’t want to go through the removal process on your own and have some money to spare, hire a window tinting service as they can remove the inks at an additional cost as well.
